Gastric Banding surgery is when a small, flexible, adjustable silicone band that is fitted around the upper part of your stomach. Its circumference is adjustable to control the rate at which food passes through to your lower stomach. Because food flow is slowed down, you feel full faster, decreasing the amount of food you feel you need to eat and lose weight.

Any food you eat will be absorbed by your body just as well as before the operation. Your digestive system is not altered in any way. This surgical weight loss procedure is done laparoscopically, therefore the recovery period is very short. As an outpatient procedure, the patient will normally go home the same day as the procedure. Gastric Banding is the safest obesity surgery available today.

Dr. Lancelot Tin has devoted much of his practice to surgical weight loss and he has been performing the laparoscopic gastric banding procedure since 2003. Most of his surgeries are performed in the Minimally Invasive Suite at the renowned Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario. This brings the peace-of-mind of having the expertise of the hospital anesthesia and nursing staff to your experience. Dr. Tin personally conducts the surgery, and does all the follow-up appointments himself, meaning your care is consistent with the same surgeon with whom you have developed a relationship.
