I was very lucky and was told by another Doctor in Ottawa, were I live about Dr Tin and the gastric band surgery.
I am very happy that i had the operation. Like any surgery, I went through the blood test, heart exam to get ready for surgery.
I had little pain from the surgery. A few days later was back to normal. Except that i couldn't eat too much.
It takes a little time to get use to chewing your food, and eating more slowly. At first softer foods are easier to handle for awhile.
Even if you get the cravings to have a snack, you can only have about 2-3 bites and that is it, you are full. And when the food is so
good that you want to keep eating, like before the operation, you just cant stuff anymore food down you.
It has been 8 months since the operation. I am down 60 lbs. It was easy because even the cravings go away. And you can not
gain it back. So you get to still eat all your favourite foods and enjoy life. And don't worry about putting back any pounds on.
And of course you get your self confidence back. And get to buy allot of new clothes and the best part is that the clothes are in
a very much smaller size.

I spent my whole life as a bigger guy, and only got bigger as I got older. And at 26, I was in horrible shape, looked and felt awful with no energy. It took me 26 years to turn me into the 335lb man you first met. And now, two years after this amazing surgery, I am more than 100lbs lighter, and still losing. We met during early summer and I was given a surgery date of August.16, 2007. Sure I was nervous but I was doing this for my health especially to reduce my back pain. The surgery went fine and I returned home the same day. I followed Dr. Tin’s food guide lines; liquids and then mushie foods while my stomach healed. I’ve had three follow up appointments – two band adjustments and one checkup just to confirm everything was going along well.
Here I am, eight months later after a steady weight loss, at my goal weight. I am 65 lbs. lighter and now buy clothes in sizes 8 –10 rather than 18-20. My back pain is decreased, I take a lower dose of blood pressure medication and I eat whatever I want only in smaller portions and the best part is I feel fantastic.
When I see Dr. Tin, he will remove some saline solution from the band and I will be able to maintain the new me. My heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Tin because he has truly changed my life.

Before undergoing gastric banding surgery in January of 2008, I was nearly 300 pounds, could not walk without the aid of a cane, and suffered from low self esteem and bouts of depression because of my obesity. By the suggestion of a very caring friend and with the referral from my family doctor, I met with Dr. Tin to consider bariatric surgery. After meeting with Dr. Tin, I knew he was the best person to care for my well-being because he was very professional and kind.
I understood that having the gastric band meant a lifestyle change - a change for the better. After surgery, my weight loss was not drastic but not slow.
